A venture driven by passion for human-centric organizations

Mikko Virtanen
The idea for Agileday is driven by our founding team’s passion for human-centric organizations. Through experience in leading, scaling, and developing various businesses for the past 15 years, the team spotted that knowledge-intensive companies often face similar problems when they grow: silos and their consequences on business performance and people's engagement. That's why they embarked on a journey to seek a solution for this complex and universal problem.

Many organizations claim to put people first, but how many actually succeed in doing so? Agileday was born from a desire to create a technology platform that could connect all people in an organization and change how it is operated. We wanted to turn the empty words into action and do it in a way that serves the business and people maximally: how to make talent feel engaged, motivated, and included in the company? How to create teams and organizations as unique as the people within? How to push the business to deliver its fullest potential without making people feel disengaged?"

"We wanted to turn the empty words into action and do it in a way that serves the business and people maximally."

Inspired by visionaries such as Peter Senge, Gary Hamel, Daniel Pink, Stanley McChrystal, Simon Sinek, Adam Grant, and Corporate Rebels, our team recognized that the reality in most organizations was far from the ideals these visionaries discuss. We had a burning need to do something tangible and real, similar to how Elon Musk transformed the automotive industry.

In our experience, the issues always stem from the same problem. As organizations grow, their data gets scattered, and silos form. This siloed data prevents organizations from having an accurate picture of the situation, often reinforcing the top-down organizational design. There is often talk about self-organizing, but its foundation might be completely missing. Subsequently, people start feeling disengaged, which leaves the business to deliver only a fraction of its full potential. Siloed staffing systems, CRMs, HR systems, forecasting systems, CV systems, and finance systems, linear processes all contribute to the problem.

Could technology, in fact, be used to connect the organization rather than disconnect it?

Our team has succeeded in leading adaptive organization and team-of-teams structures scaling up from 200 to 700 people, yet we saw a need for a fundamental shift. Could technology, in fact, be used to connect the organization rather than disconnect it?

Agileday was born from the idea of creating an operating platform that could connect all people in an organization and provide every individual, team, and role what they need to succeed and feel engaged. After exhaustive research in the field, our team concluded that there definitely was a need for a new type of technology. It would be an operating platform that could bring together the human aspect and business priorities in a relevant way for everyone: individuals, teams, business leaders, and everyone in the company.

In the intensive product development phase, we partnered with our first customers, who saw the same vision and wanted to change their game for good. We continued co-creating something beautiful and revolutionary for the knowledge work industry. The first customers entered their Agileday era at the beginning of 2023. At this time, we were already working with multiple companies of different sizes.

All this we do from our passion for human-centric organizations.

As we continue our dialogue with expert organizations, we continuously see the same problem: lack of visibility, siloed tools, and disconnected operations. Magic is gone and mediocrity is left. Today, we do precisely what Agileday was founded for: we help bring back the magic that once was there. We help bring joy, smiles, and meaningfulness to every day. We help build networked and adaptive organizations based on high-performing teams. We provide tools for leaders to deliver better business results sustainably. All this we do from our passion for human-centric organizations.
